in such a great speed, and all we do, is make fucking toys with it. Why dont we do something useful with it, and not waste our time dicking around like morons who think theyve got all this shit figured out.

Album review: Queens Of The Stone Age - Songs For The Deaf

Queens Of The Stone Age. That is all.

These guys have been making awesome music since 1997. Before that however Josh Homme and Nick Oliveri were in another band that you may have heard of called Kyuss. With their newest album Era Vulgaris, Queens have come quite a long way to be recognized as one of the best rock bands of today. Not to dwell on this yada-yada too much , lets get into the album itself.

The first track is Millionaire, which starts off with weird sound effects and someone getting into a car and turning the radio on. It sets the feel for the rest of the album as there are constant samples between songs of people talking on the radio and the channel changing. Millionaire itself is a great song with a groovy riff and some pretty energetic vocals. A great album opener for sure.

The second song No one Knows is without a doubt one of Qotsa-s most popular songs. It has a great groove running throughout the entire song and it is relentless, one of the best from the album for sure. The next song is called First It Giveth, and it's another classic qotsa song with Joshua presenting some weirdass singing and fast paced riffing. It blasts right into Song For The Dead which starts off with this crazy chugging harmonic riff and once the verse kicks in you will be back in familiar territory with some bluesy licks placed all over the riffs and who I believe to be Mark Lanegan on vocals. This song fits perfectly on the album and although it might not be as big of a stand out as some of the other songs, its still great.

Sky Is Falling is one of my favourite Qotsa tracks and it presents a more progressive or experimental sound than say Millionaire does. There are some great lyrics in this song and the bouncing main riff is quite awesome. Another great song from the album.

Now after Sky Is Falling, things get a little weird to say the least. Keep in mind this is my opinion and don't shit yourselves if it doesn't agree with yours.

Six Shooters is a song that's barely over a minute long and it features Nick screaming like a maniac and honestly I dont know what the hell is going on with this one. To me this is a filler song, nothing else and nothing more. I could not care less if this wasn't on the album.

Hanging Tree is a song featuring Mark Lanegan on the vocals once again and it is quite good. The main riff and harmonies are pretty cool and this is a standart qotsa song where they show you how its done.

Go With The Flow. If you know who queens of the stone age are, you know this song . It's a standard single and really nothing special to my ears. A love song without much more to say about it.

The next 3-4 songs are again Qotsa doing what they do best, I have never really enjoyed songs like Gonna Leave You, Do It Again or Another Love Song. I cant say that they suck but I dont think theyre anything special either, Queens have made songs alot better than these and I feel these are more fillers than anything once again. The title track starts out with great bassline and a pretty typical chorus, still a great song. Mosquito Song is basicly the album closer and it's a great acoustic song that will stick in your head like mosquitos sucking on you on a cool summer night. To make it short , this is one of the more recognized Queens albums and it has some of their most memorable work on it, but I do feel there are some filler songs here that break the epicness of the album. Whichever way you slice it, this is still a great album and I give it a 7.5/10 without much second thought.

1st post: Wtf is this?

Let me start this by saying I have no idea how well this will go down, if anyone ever gets the chance to read this blog or anything, but whatever. It's here now and it's here to stay.

Here I will start posting up reviews , random rants, blogs about anything and everything I feel like talking about , but mostly it will probably be music related, movie related etc. Now lets get started on our first review... which will be the newest album by Puscifer. ->>>>>>


Look at that album cover. Dont tell me you have seen anything as great as that in a long time.
Puscifer is the side project of Maynard James Keenan, frontman of Tool, who are currently said to be working on their new album , due sometime in 2012.

Conditions of My Parole is an internesting album to say the least. It starts off with the eery sounding "Tiny Monsters" , combining electronical music with Maynard's great voice and setting the mood for most of the album. Now personally speaking, this isn't one of my favourites off the album but still a decent track.

Green Valley is the second song on the album and it starts off easy enough with acoustic music and Maynard singing some pretty cool lyrics. Towards the second half of the song, the instruments lock into a pretty cool little groove and then... well... the song ends.

Monsoons is the third track on the album and if you get through this song and don't dig the sound of any of the previous songs, you might aswell turn off now. This song is another one with electronical sounds going around with Maynard laying some pretty calming vocals on top of it.

Telling Ghosts is probably my second favourite song off the album and it's got more of a rock song feel to it than most other songs on this album. Not much to say about this one, great lyrics , great music, a pretty cool song.

Horizons is more of the same we have already heard and honestly this song does not interest me at all.
Man overboard was the first song released from the album (or so I am led to believe) and it is a good single I guess when you listen to this song back to back with the rest of the album. It's got a little bit of everything and most puscifer fans should be quite pleased with this one.

Toma is one of the more agressive songs off the album it's another pretty straightforward track.Features some great basslines and awesome vocals.

The title track on this album is one of the strongest track in my opinion cause it's short , sweet and hits the nail right on the head. If you like puscifer, you will like this song.

The 3 closing tracks are all on the mellow side and at times I feel the album gets a little repetitive.. but it's still better than 80% of the music we hear in the mainstream and hopefully people decide to check this album out. I personally like Tool alot more than puscifer but hey, to each their own . I give this album a 7/10 as my final score. Great lyrics, great singing, gets repetitive and predictable.
